An Academic Guide of Who Rides
ValleyRide Buses Without Paying Fares

Valley Regional Transit has ridership reimbursement contracts with several academic entities that allows faculty, staff and students to ride on Valleyride buses without paying fares. Those schools are listed below:

Boise State University/College of Western Idaho/University of Idaho

(all eligible riders need to show the bus operator a valid school ID card)

Eligible Services

All fixed-routes in Boise and Garden City. All intercounty service.

Specifics

Need sticker on ID card to qualify (except for ESL students, who have BSU produced paper passes). Stickers are available at the BSU Parking Office and the CWI and U of I student services offices. Good for free rides all year.


Boise School District

(all eligible riders need to show the bus operator a valid school ID card)

Who is eligible

All faculty and staff, all students attending senior high school

Boise/Garden City routes.

Good during the 2015-16 school year.


Who is eligible

Community Based Education Training (CBET) program participants. CBET students are high school special education students who are sent out into the community for work experience.

Who is eligible

Boise School District — Junior High (9th Grade) students who are taking a class at a high school. These students need to show the bus operator an ID from the senior high where they are attending class.

Who is eligible

Frank Church High School students, Marian Pritchett School — These students normally use the district bus system, but class schedules may necessitate using ValleyRide buses when school buses are not operating.
